Currently, it is owned and operated by Live Nation. The venue became the site of Riverport Riot on July 2, 1991, during the Guns N' Roses Concert soon after opening. The construction cost for the amphitheater was estimated to be $12 million. The amphitheater opened to the general public on June 14, 1991, with a performance by Steve Winwood. The venue has a seating capacity of around 20,000.
